Over the last months I’ve learned what it really means to found a company. Not the early stage with signing the contracts, planing the future and getting all the good voices of family, friends and relatives, because you own a business now.
No, it’s about the crisis of next steps, getting Facebook Likes, solving dozens of coding errors and being glad about new updates of a boring business software. Two years ago I never would have thought that I’ll ever being happy about such an update…
And some days ago I got hit so hard because of an price offer we never had estimated in this height that I realized what it’s all about – Entrepreneurship is like Fight Club.
You get beaten up again and again. You enjoy the periods directly after a hit, because you have at least a second of rest. The first fights are tough and you won’t win every one. But you stay and go on. Fight after fight you rise up with the goal of being the champion. Many will give up in this progress. But not you. You keep fighting and fighting and then, you get your championship tournament. And you possibly even beat the current champion. What you haven’t recognized is the fact that the party now goes more than ever.
From now on you have to defeat your title against many other ones and you grow older and older, get weaker. It remains being tough.
Yes, entrepreneurship is an infinite series of fights and punches in the face.
But you know what? It’s amazing.
Maybe it’s crazy and dumb, but I think that’s what life should be. Ups and downs. Ups and downs. Only after those downs you can really enjoy the ups.
The picture above shows two ways to live. Everybody should decide that for himself. But entrepreneurship is definitely the upper one. There’s nothing bad about the lower one. You just have to know what you prefer. I just think that it’s even more difficult to handle entrepreneurship with the second kind of lifestyle.
Someone remembered me some time ago that 500 years ago a much higher percentage of people were entrepreneurs or business owners. Most of the people had small businesses. Blacksmith, baker, farmer.
That proves that we really have the ability to be self-employed or entrepreneurs. We can do it. We just have to start believing in ourselves and take the first step.
Which type of life do you prefer?
